Kid’s Choice Awards 2013 Best Dressed

One word: PRINTS!

If there’s one event that celebrities are allowed to go a little crazy in their red carpet choices it’s the Kid’s Choice Awards! Just imagine my delight upon seeing satrs walk the orange carpet decked in all sorts of prints!!

At number 7, we have Pretty Little Liars’ resident it girl – Lucy Hale brought class in this crisp white Dior dress paired with Brian Atwood mary janes! If you know me, I always love a white fashion statement!

From a PLL star to a pop star, Katy Perry brought just the right amount of sexy to the orange carpet in a midriff-baring Herve Leger and some serious pair of Christian Louboutin!

Another style star brought her a-game wearing Mary Kantrantzou print dress and like Katy, paired with Christian Louboutin bow pumps! Good to see Jessica rocking it on the carpet but, what movie is she on??

Now, this next one is a Disney star! Zendaya, who cureently stars on Shake it Up rocks a sweatshirt and floral skirt combination courtesy of Bec & Bridge. I have to say, this look is so topshop! oh, and the Alice & Olivia shoes are to die for!

At number 3 is another Disney star and Zendaya’s costar, Bella Thorne! This girl has been on my fashion radar for quite some time now – whether she’s out & about, red carpets and anything in between, she looks stylish! Maybe our next fashion spotlight? Anyway, she’s wearing a metallic peplum Alice & Olivia dress! Fabulous!

Our runner-up for best dressed during the show is Nickelodeon star, Victoria Justice who flaunted her fabulous physique in a body-hugging Pia Pauro dress paired with stylish Aldo shoes. I love that she kept her hair lose and the make-up subtle, this way she stayed young!

I don’t know about you but Kristen Stewart stole the show in this shirt & shorts ensemble by Osman and vamped it up with a pair of classic Christian Louboutin pumps! I’ve always loved her red carpet choices because she never plays itself and this one is no different!

And here’s Kristen being a sport after getting slimed upon winning Favorite Movie Actress! Gotta love her!

Fashion Spotlight: Lily Collins

March is almost over so here goes your monthly dose of fashion spotlight!

For this month, British-American actress Lily Collins takes the spotlight for her “Upper East Side meets London cool” style. Unlike last month, we will feature both her street style plus her red carpet choices! So, shall we?

You know a girl’s got style if she is as impeccable on the streets as she is on the red carpet and this girl certainly can rock both casual and formal wear with such ease!

Here are some of my favorite out and about lookshots…

If you want to achieve Lily’s street style, here are the essential pieces:
1. Everyone’s go-to jeans! May it be Dark-washed, light-washed, cropped, skinny, bootcut… Lily loves ’em all!
2. Vest, tench coat, biker jacket, cardigan… Anything to keep you warm!
3. Black booties in varying lengths seem to be Lily’s favorite!
4. What’s an It girl without something to keep her mysterious? Sunnies!

Moving on to her red carpet choices! Now, I know everyone won’t join me in giving Lily the red carpet approval and yes, she’s had some bad choices but at least, they were bold choices and that’s something to be admired. This girl never plays it safe, a mark of every fashionista! Whether she’s attending Paris Fashion Week, attending a benefit in New York or rubbing elbows with some Hollywood heavyweights, Lily delivers her Blair Waldorf-meets-Sienna Miller style.

Probably her biggest red carpet hit! And my personal favorite! She looks sophisticated but keeping that youthful vibe; perfect mix of sweet & sexy!

Not only is Lily a stylish young lady but she also knows to date someone as stylish as her – in the likeness of Jamie Campbell Bower no less! Now, I don’t know if they are dating for real or yet another Hollywood PR technique for their upcoming film but hey, they look good together!

Innocence Ends

What happens when an enigmatic uncle whom you’ve never seen all your life suddenly moves in with you and your emotionally-unstable mom?

image

“Stoker” is a psychological thriller directed by Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy) and stars Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode and Nicole Kidman with an original screenplay by Prison Break actor, Wentworth Miller.

The film opened with the burial of Richard Stoker, Evelyn’s (Kidman) husband and India’s (Wasikowska) father when out of nowhere, Richard’s brother Charlie (Goode) invites himself to their home with hopes of getting close to both of them. Although there were suspicions surrounding his motives, Evelyn found herself drawn to him while India keeps her distance but eventually found herself equally drawn to him…until she found out about his secret, that is. If you are planning to see this film then I suggest you hurry! If you know me well, I have a thing for dark & twisted psychological films like this and I’m really glad that Stoker
delivered just what I expected and more. The first film proved to be impressionable that you wouldn’t want to miss a scene however creepy and disturbing the scenes are. It also helped that the films boasts an amazing cast lead by Nicole Kidman who portrayed the complexities of a suffering woman wanting to reassure her self-worth while trying to get close with her equally miserable daughter. On the other hand, Matthew Goode also proved to be effective as a psychologically-ill individual but the real star of the film was in the form of the 20-year old Mia Wasikowska who’s known for her work as Alice in Wonderland. Subtlety is a form of acting only achieved by actors of sheer experience but Wasikowska showed that she’s someone to watch. Lastly, the film wouldn’t be as disturbing as it was without its’ editing – the kind of editing that would want to narrate a story but at the same time not giving away everything.
