Fashion Spotlight: Miranda Kerr

You’ve seen her face, you know her name and the spotlight is something she’s accustomed to since her first catwalk turn in 2006’s Victoria’s Secret show as the first Australian “Angel”Miranda Kerr‘s rose to prominence hasn’t stop since.

Although I’m not her biggest fan as a VS angel, I’m definitely a fan of her impeccable street style! I just love her style and feels like she deserves this month’s fashion spotlight. Just being objective and fair here! Anyway, what I admire about her style is it’s always business-ready at the same time comfortable! And considering her position in the fashion world, every designer is definitely at her disposal!

When I see her out and about photos, all I can think about is “how does she juggle it all?” – being the brand ambassador for Mango, Samantha Thavasa, Qantas and Victoria’s Secret, owner of an organic make-up line Kora and of course, a wife and baby momma to the hunky Hollywood actor, Orlando Bloom! Miranda, as much as I’d hate to admit is definitely one of the most beautiful mothers in Tinseltown!

The dimpled and chipmunk-faced model wears every clothing with ease, whether she’s wearing skirt, leather pants or just that good old skinny jeans! I also love that she switches up her footwear and keeps it interesting with animal print flats, edgy booties, pointy stiletto pumps or even that trendy sneaker wedges by Isabel Marant. The woman screams “style” all over her!

More than her designer duds, her most precious arm candy besides her husband is adorable son, Flynn – who by the way, is also one fashionable kid following the footsteps of mom! Whether she’s showing off some serious curves for VS, strutting designer duds on fashion weeks or just plain out and about with her good-looking family… Miranda sure puts the “style” in street style! And I think she’s ageless too – she looks so young to be 29! Don’t you think so too? And hey, she’ll be 30 on the 20th! Happy birthday, Miranda!

2. Layer it up with trendy blazers, cardigans and coats!
3. Have that trusty pair of jeans come in handy.
4. Invest on a classic black handbag.

Coachella Dressing 101

Coachella’s 1st weekend (April 12-14) is fast-approaching and you still haven’t got anything to wear? Well, worry no more for I have just the answer for you!

image

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival or most commonly known as simply, Coachella – is an annual three-day festival held in Indio, California at the heart of the valley of Coachella. The event features musical genres like hiphop, rock and mostly indie and across the festival grounds, several stages are located and hosting a variety of live music.

I always dreamed of waking up one day and attend the famous Coachella with my friends and just a have a good time! I know that day will come but for the mean time, I’ll be happy to be a spectator from afar! Until then, here are some of my favorite Coachella fashion and maybe these could also help you too!

If your style is all-American and girl-next-door, take a cue from the ever so stylish Kate Bosworth. Her looks are simple but screams hip – she graced the event in a variety of shorts and mini dresses paired with sturdy shoes.

Now, if your style is more fun – follow, Alessandra Amborosio’s lead and go hippie! The Brazilian Victoria’s Secret angel made her presence known strutting “flower power” inspired looks! And more is more is definitely her motto when it comes to accessories!

Now, for the men – you would want to keep it cool like Chord Overstreet seen here with then-girlfriend, Emma Roberts or channel a surfer-look courtesy Of Penn Badgley with ladylove, Zoe Kravitz or maybe a more reserved British cool from Michael Polish, boyfriend of Kate Bosworth.

Simply put, here are the five essential to be Coachella-ready:
1. Make sure to bring your sunnies as it is always a hot weekend in Coachella!
2. Wear your most laidback but stylish outfit! Remember, there’ll be a lot of standing, camping and dancing so you would want to be comfortable.
3. A pair of boots are much preferred during the festival, their sturdy and stylish at the same time!
4. Wear your hair in loose waves or in a messy bun – you can jazz it up with hippie bands, braids and floppy hats!
5. Go with your bestfriends or your boyfriend/girlfriend! It’s always a good time when you spend it with the ones you could go crazy with!

The Journey Begins

The Croods is a new computer-animated adventure film produced by arguably the best in animation pictures, DreamWorks animation and this film also marked the first collaboration between DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox and is directed by Kirk DeMicco (Space Chimps) & Kirk Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon).

image

If like my dad and myself, you’re probably asking why “The Croods”? Yes, it’s their family name but the term was also based on the fictional prehistoric era known as The Croodaceous. This particular era contains fantastical creatures and when everything new is something to be afraid of, thus the family motto – “Never not be afraid” which includes the “Leader of the Hunt” Grug (Nicolas Cage), his wife Ugga (Catherine Keener), their ignorant son Thunk (Clark Duke), their rather ferocious baby daughter Sandy (Randy Thom), the curious Eep (Emma Stone) and the colorful Gran (Cloris Leachman), who mirrors Eep’s curious nature. The Crood family is used to spending their lives in a cave where they think is safe and anything new and out of the ordinary is unacceptable until one day, Eep grew tired of her family’s antics and decided to explore the world thus beginning a journey to discovery and along the way met a nomadic named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who helped the family reach “tomorrow”.

First, I have to commend the voice-casting for this film for it captured the essence of each of the characters and I am telling you, voice acting is hard – I’ve tried it! Anyway! I know that DreamWorks have time and again proven their animation credentials – hello Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda etc. but I just have to say this, the animation was superb – it was a visual feast for every moviegoer! The story wasn’t so bad either, it tackled a philosophical concept of how change is inevitable in a light-hearted and entertaining manner and actually, who cares if you somewhat predicted a happy ending and take note they always have happy endings, all I know is The Croods is something worth watching – with your families, especially. PS. If you haven’t watched it yet, be ready for their clever one-liners particularly the ones delivered by Gran, hilarious!
