If you’re like me, you spend countless amount of hours browsing through Instagram and you might have seen items of clothing and thought “I want one!” but the problem is, where to get one? Well, you can thank me later because I’ll be bringing some of them here straight outta London!

The first collection focuses on something I started, my #ForwardMovement and although I have yet to explain it, you can say that it’s all about female empowerment (more on this soon). So, I’ve curated two different pieces for this collection and it’s all about channeling the most beloved girl band of the 90s, the Spice Girls of course because let’s be honest, their style is outrageous but totally fun!

Best Dressed: amfAR Benefit Gala

You’ve probably came across amfAR already and that’s mainly because Hollywood stars used to flock their Benefit Galas to raise funds for AIDS Research and HIV prevention and every year, Cannes hosts not just the festival but also an amfAR Benefit Gala with the who’s who of festival goers invited to the soiree.

Bella Heathcote, star of Neon Demon showed her support and quite stunningly so in a sequined Armani Privè creation. I love her slicked back look, the smokey eyes and those chandelier earrings! Glamour! IMG_7108

Also in Armani Privè is model and frequent goer, Barbara Palvin who kept things simple in the beauty department donning just a classic pony tail and muted make-up to keep all focus on the tulle creation worthy for a Disney villain! IMG_7109

Giving back has never looked better especially in the case of Isabeli Fontana in a sexy Alexander Vaulthier mermaid gown. It’s simple, it’s classic but also dramatic thanks to the Harry Winston statement necklace that you just wouldn’t miss! IMG_7117

Sleek seems to be the night’s memo, Toni Garrn joined a bevy of models by showing up in simple hairdo and muted make-up, opting for her Elie Saab dress to take center stage but in her case, those mile long legs also stole the show! IMG_7110

This is quite a different look from Irina Shayk‘s collection of curve-hugging showstoppers, but this Miu Miu number is pretty amazing too! The drop-waist silhouette and those hand sewn details with her flawless make-up, make this look a runner up in my favorite amfAR red carpet moments ever. IMG_7111

Lily Donaldson provided the much needed color pop on the red carpet with this beautiful Prada creation – her hair: simple, her crimson pout: perfect, her dress: backless Say no more, it’s YAS YAS YAS. IMG_7112

Best Dressed: Cannes Photo Call

The Cannes Film Festival has just concluded and with it came many fashion moments that are sure to inspire us, mere human beings to take notes incase we ever find ourselves in attending the fete! If you’re an avid Cannes goer but in my case, “watcher” you probably know that it’s not just the red carpet walk up the Croisette that you have to nail, the show actually begins the moment the stars attend photo calls.

What better way to start the list than France’s own It girl and face of Louis Vuitton, Lea Seydoux! She stars in It’s Only the End of the World and showed up at the photo call decked in black & white Louis Vuitton ensemble accessorised with crimson pumps and pout and a disheveled bob! Très chic! IMG_7154

Let me just get this out of my system, it’s so refreshing to see Lily Rose Depp smiling! There, I said it. Lily, besides being the offspring of famous parents (Vanessa Paradis & Johnny Depp) is also the face of Chanel so it didn’t come as a surprise when she opted a laidback knitted pair from the brand’s Spring Collection. The look reflects her effortless cool style adding only just the right amount of glamour by donning pair of sandals with floral appliqué. IMG_7155

From one Chanel muse to another, Kristen Stewart is the perennial “cool girl” and it always shows in the way she does red carpet – she’s probably the only person Karl Lagerfeld would allow to pair his creation with a basic white tee! KStew finished off her look by keeping her bleach blonde hair messy, her eyes smoky and oh, a pair of LouboutinsIMG_7153

KStew’s costar in Cafe Society also made a statement and not surprisingly so because it’s Blake Lively! Seriously, will this woman ever gonna get it wrong?  This Juan Carlos Obando jumpsuit is what photo calls are made of, it’s chic, it’s flattering and it has a train! IMG_7152

Have you ever asked yourself what a Chanel gift box would look like if it was a person? Well, I think Elle Fanning was asking the same question too because she showed up like one! The Neon Demon star was cute as a button in a frilly Chanel mini dress!IMG_7119

My favorite look from the photo call was from our very own, Andi Eigenmann. What? The girl looks good, I’m not biased AT ALL. Andi was there promoting the Brillante Mendoza directed film, Ma Rosa in a crisp white Patty Ang ensemble. Not bad for a first timer and what a way to represent the Philippines! IMG_7160

I’ll be posting more from the Amfar Gala and the main red carpet event so stay tuned for that!

Best Dressed: Met Gala 2016

The Met Gala is an occasion in which celebrities converge in honor of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Part–red carpet and part–really fancy dinner, the Gala also serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Every year, the stars dress up in accordance with the theme of the exhibit, which this year is entitled Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology so a parade of futuristic and structured couture pieces naturally, were to be expected.

The red carpet was flooded by LVDs aka Louis Vuitton Dresses! Nicolas Ghesquire, the Creative Director of the brand is co-chair of the event so it’s only fitting that a handful of stars chose to wear his creations. LVD

I’m going to begin my list by starting strong with newly-minted Academy Award winner, Brie Larson in a mid-length Prouenza Schouler dress which reminds me of Ava from Ex-Machina! I love the bow detail, the ruffled skirt and the ballerina shoes all of which shouldn’t have worked but did because it gave the look a soft contrast to it. 10

Rachel McAdams looked like a Grecian goddess in her golden Valentino Couture which she paired with side swept hair and a bold lip. Like Brie’s look, Rachel also displayed that contrast between that structured bodice and the feminine lower half of her dress! 9

Another fashionista that serves Grecian goddess goodness is Kate Bosworth in head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana, look at the details on that dress! I love how it is very reminiscent of a Greek god but it also has that edgy, futuristic princess vibe! 8

Okay, this next look gave me quite the dilemma when I first saw it.. I initially hated this custom two-piece couture by Calvin Klein but when I saw a video of Emma Watson walking her way up those Met steps? I was obsessed! Emma is known to favor pantsuits on the red carpet and this will go down in Met history as one of the best pantsuits ever worn on the gala!7

Moving on from one franchise superstar to another, Kristen Stewart being the face of Chanel, donned a fresh off the runway look from the brand’s Fall 2016 collection! Her bleached blonde hair, that eye make-up and those boots paired with her black ensemble make for a perfect Gala look but what I love more about though is it’s very reflective of who she is and what her style is, now who doesn’t love someone who keeps it real? 6

Speaking of keeping it real, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid just made their red carpet debut as a couple! The disgustingly good-looking duo may have been the best dressed couple of the night thanks to his custom Versace tuxedo which was very much on theme and her Tommy Hilfiger dress which is very “Bond girl” if you ask me. 4

Another model who made quite the entrance was Karolina Kurkova, now this is a model who’s known to take the theme to new heights and this year was no different. Karolina showed up in a breathtaking Marchesa, a piece made in collaboration with IBM which lights up every time someone tweets about it. Whaaaaaat? NO. BIG. DEAL.5

I think if we can elect anyone as the “Queen of the Future” based on tonight it has to be Nicole Kidman, hands down. Nicole blew everyone away in a caped (gasp!) Alexander McQueen creation which featured cutouts, embellished moon details and quite frankly, the drama that the Gala craves! SLAY.3

In rare occasions, the drama doesn’t have to come from the dress but the hair and that’s exactly what Elle Fanning pulled off (pun intended) with this tied-all-the-way-up ponytail. The minimalist aesthetic of this Thakoon look is so fashion forward and a winner at that! 2

Despite all the glorious gowns that’s catered in this year’s Gala, no gown has made quite the buzz more than Claire Danes‘ spot-on Manus x Machina showstopper! The Zac Posen ball gown is already gorgeous in itself but did I tell you that it lights up in the dark too? Because it does and it’s pure magic! Now, this is what the Met Gala is all about! 11.

Best Dressed: Academy Awards 2016

And it’s finally here! After months and months of press tours, movie premieres and award shows, the hottest ticket in town and the grand finale of the season, the Academy Awards is upon us and with it comes a parade of couture pieces fresh off the runway and some, even custom made just for the event. Many have dubbed the ceremony as the Superbowl, the World Series, the Olympics if you will of the film industry with the most genetically-gifted participants with the most glorious gowns! Now that’s one hell of an Olympics!

The stars always save their best looks for this event, pulling all the stops with their dresses, shoes and jewels and this year’s eminent trends are pastel-hued creations, with flowing silhouettes, dainty details adorned with dripping diamonds and sky high stilettos! This year’s red carpet was a big step-up from last year which was a little more subdued and classic in nature, this year is a little more fun, girly but still very old Hollywood.

Let’s kick things off with Star Wars heroine, Daisy Ridley who made quite the impression in a powdered blue Chanel couture dress which features a tea length and intricate beadwork that’s perfect for her because it’s fun, delicate and certainly a “rising star look”. DAISY

Another young actress and nominee, Saoirse Ronan has been killing it lately with one fabulous gown to another but this one is surprisingly different from the other looks we’ve seen her in. She wore a custom Calvin Klein creation that is a bit risqué and features strategic cutouts  which she paired with mismatched Chopard accessories, a smokey make-up and finger-combed tresses (accdg to @hairbyadir who did her hair)SAOIRSE

Maternity fashion never looked so good! Emily Blunt debuted her baby bump in a pastel pink Prada number with crystal details and an empire waist silhouette that accentuated her bump well. You would think that Emily would keep it safe with a column gown but she wasn’t afraid to add a bit of a train in the mix,  now this is how you dress for the Oscars if you’re expecting! EMILY

Emily’s costar in the upcoming The Hunstman, Charlize Theron also showed up in a major fashion moment with a daring Dior Haute Couture dress that fit her statuesque frame flawlessly. Did I mention that she’s dripping in a total of 3.75million worth of Harry Winston diamonds? Because she totally is! This is a showstopper, this is what a movie star looks like!  CHARLIZE

Another jaw-dropping style moment and runner-up for my best dressed is courtesy of Cate Blanchett – I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again,  if there’s someone who can deliver drama to the red carpet it’s going to be Cate and she delivered! Elsa definitely would want to steal this seafoam-colored custom Armani Privé work of art that featured floral adornments and accessorised with Tiffany & Co. jewels. Wow! CATE

For my best dressed of them all and the night’s belle (pun intended) of the ball, Alicia Vikander stunned everyone with in her own words “a dusty yellow” custom Louis Vuitton high-low ball gown. This is a departure from her usually more structured and edgy looks from the last weeks, this time she embraced her inner Belle, had a princess moment and won the night! Beautiful! ALICIA

Stay tuned for more on the actual ceremony coming up next on the blog.

Runway to Red Carpet

It’s been a long road leading to the Oscars and on three days, the long wait will be over and all our questions will be answered – will Leonardo DiCaprio finally be able to snatch that elusive honor, will Alejandro G. Iñarritu pull a back-to-back win, what film will take home Best Picture and most importantly, what will our favorite stars be wearing? Lol let’s face it, we’re all excited to see how Chris Rock will do as a 2nd-time host and who the winners will be but with a roster of nominees as stylish as this year, I’m talking Blanchett! Lawrence! Mara! Vikander! etc. it’s always the most fun to see what glorious gowns these ladies will wear on the biggest night in Hollywood so… allow me to indulge and share which gowns from the different fashion weeks I’d like to see on the red carpet. *PLEASE BEAR WITH MY PHOTOSHOP SKILLS(?)*

ALICIA VIKANDER: This is her first awards season plus she’s the face of Louis Vuitton so  naturally, she’ll wear a gown by the brand but there’s no way of telling what it will look like as it will most likely be a custom one made especially for her for the occasion. Her style is very ladylike but always with a little bit of edge so I chose for her a red lacey Rodarte (left) number which is right up her alley and an off the shoulder Oscar Dela Renta (right) look which is a little vampy but she could totally pull it off and I totally could see her winning an Oscar in this look. I’m hoping Vuitton could make her something that’s close to either of this two!  ALICIAA

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: Like Alicia, JLaw’s dress would also be tricky to put together as she is the face of Dior and it’s almost 100% sure that she will wear something custom and something we’ve never seen on the runway but if their recent show is any indication, we could be looking at a sexier, more daring Jennifer on the red carpet come Oscar night. Just add the extra length and insert some linings and voila, both of these could be an Oscar-worthy look!JLAWW

SAOIRSE RONAN: She isn’t new to the scene but this is her first season as a full fledged leading lady and it’s only fitting to look the part, Saoirse is young and a splash of color really suits her especially the canary cutout Valentino (left) gown which is also reminiscent of a greek goddess look, in a good way of course! She could also play up her ethereal good looks and embrace the nature theme with a Zuhair Murad (right) work of artSAOIRSEE

RACHEL MCADAMS: Another Supporting Actress nominee, Rachel often favors girly frocks with a free-flowing silhouette and she’s often seen wearing Elie Saab creations so for the Oscars, you would think that I’d want her to experiment more but no, I want her to stick to what she does best because If it ain’t broke, right? I can already imagine her wearing either the intricately beaded Elie Saab (left) or the floral and lace combination from Oscar Dela Renta (right).RACHELL

CATE BLANCHETT: There’s nothing more fun for an avid onlooker like myself than to witness “brave fashion”, pushing the style envelope by experimenting and being unafraid to wear just about anything and pulling it off effortlessly. Cate is a designer’s dream because she wears clothes with ease but never boring and if anyone’s going to bring drama to the red carpet it would be her, that’s why I’d like to see her in a caped Chanel couture gown (left) or a fiery Marchesa (right) dress with a form-fitting silhouette. CATEE

ROONEY MARA: It’s true that Rooney almost always sticks with black and white but she always keeps it interesting by donning silhouettes only she could get away with and looks that on someone else could look a bit costume-y , she makes it work. She has a long standing relationship with Alexander McQueen so it’s safe to bet that the fashion house could lend her this magical caped creation (left), just add a lining and this could instantly be an iconic Oscar moment. I could also see her going the romantic route with Marchesa (right) and it’d also be magical! ROONEYY

BRIE LARSON: As the one to beat and the favorite to win, Brie will need a princess moment and I want her to have that so to her stylist, please put her in a full skirt or better yet a ball gown! Just a quick call to Mr. Valentino to make it floor length could make this look (left) a winner in its own right or if she wants to go the more subtle princess moment, I also can imagine her in this delicate blush Carolina Herrera (right) look.BRIEE.png

Fashion Spotlight: Alicia Vikander

I’ve mentioned Vikanderssaince a few times in some of my posts already and you might be asking, is it just me favouring Alicia Vikander so much or is it really a thing. Well, she did have five films (Man From U.N.C.L.E., Ex Machina, Seventh Son, Burnt and The Danish Girl) released last year, she was named as the new face of Louis Vuitton, she’s dating hot Irish actor Michael Fassbender and she could possibly win an Academy Award at the end of this month so… It’s pretty apparent that she’s having a moment.

IMG_6025
Her best Louis Vuitton looks to date during the many premiere events of The Danish Girl

While last month’s fashion spotlight, Rooney follows a black and white uniform on the red carpet, Alicia also has a uniform – Louis Vuitton, of course! As the brand’s ambassador, she has full access to everything it has to offer; from her shoes, bags and gowns, she’s seen rocking them all. Though we see her from time to time in other brands like Marc Jacobs and Erdem, she always goes back to Louis Vuitton, after all her style has become synonymous to the brand’s feminine yet edgy and soft but structured aesthetic.

The Oscars is coming and I hope Louis Vuitton creates her something magical because as of now, her best red carpet moment yet was in Valentino during last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

*She can be seen next on The Light Between Oceans, The Untitled Bourne Film and Tulip Fever.

Best Dressed: Grammy Awards 2016

When it comes to award shows, you can count on the Grammy Awards to have the most outrageous gowns and over-the-top looks. While this year is no different, I have to say that it’s a bit tamer this time because the ones we always count on to deliver are sadly, absent from the ceremony – Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj etc.

But worry not because Mother Monster is in the house, Lady Gaga paid tribute to David Bowie by channeling the late artist in a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble, platform heels and this is Gaga we’re talking about so of course she didn’t just stopped there, she also dyed her hair a bright orange a la the Starman and put on a bedazzled eye shadow to complete her look. IMG_6125

Leave it to Adele to bring the class to the red carpet, the “Hello” singer was decked in a chic black frock by Givenchy which featured split shoulders and embellished details. She also debuted a stylish bob that she complimented with her signature smokey eye makeup. IMG_6124

Also making a statement in black, Carrie Underwood wore a creation by an upcoming Lebanese designer called Nicolas Jebran which featured a sweetheart neckline and a thigh high slit – making the look both sexy and sweet!IMG_6117

Selena Gomez is just killing it lately, this custom Calvin Klein creation’s flawless on her! It’s backless, it has tiny straps, it’s navy, it fits her perfectly plus the way she wore her hair down and her accessories, everything just works. S.L.A.Y.IMG_6116

Well, having said all those.. Selena was definitely my best dressed but what about Sam Hunt though? When a man makes an effort to veer away from the predictable you have to take notice and this dusty rose Dolce and Gabbana suit did it for me!IMG_6118

Best Dressed: BAFTA Awards 2016

Movie stars travelled across the pond for the British Academy Awards (BAFTA), known as the well, British counterpart of the Oscars, the stars pulled all the stops on the red carpet for a glorious night of movies, fashion and glamour!

The award show took place during Valentine’s Day so some stars showed up in the festive hue and understandably so, like Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) who’s at the event as a Rising Star nominee but lost out to Star Wars’ John Boyega. No worries though, Dakota still won the night in a silk Dior number, a crimson pout and a no-fuss hair. DAKOTA

After being a no-show from several award shows these past weeks, Cate Blanchett (Carol) is back with another sartorial hit in a custom Alexander McQueen creation which was both floral and feathered! Not that’s something we didn’t see coming!

CATE

Who says black can’t be romantic? The face of Louis Vuitton and double nominee, Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) strikes another style points in the brand’s chic leather dress that weighs 35lbs! Wait, what? ALICIA

Another star who’s feeling the festive air was the Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) who stunned in a Victoria Beckham body-hugging number that’s both sexy and classy. EMILIA

Runner-up for best dressed at the BAFTA is Rooney Mara (Carol) who continues her winning style streak in a Givenchy eyelet cut-out shoulder number which almost matches her alabaster skin. She kept it simple, just adding a thick statement headband to accessorize the entire look. ROONEY

The best look of the night was courtesy of the fresh and talented, Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) who always shows up in something always interesting but never inappropriate. This custom Burberry column gown which features an intricate amount of beadwork suited her perfectly for it reflected her youthful elegance. SAOIRSE

Best Dressed: Screen Actors Guild Awards

Awards season is in full swing as stars gathered for an award show like no other, the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) is held annually to celebrate the best and brightest in both film and television. The “Actor” is given to the most outstanding performances of actors from their fellow actors. More on the ceremony and winners later!

For this blog post, we highlight the best from the show’s red carpet; now, if the Golden Globes is all about sparkles and sexy silhouettes and the Oscars for bringing back Old Hollywood glamour, the SAGs is where stars have fun and show up in dresses they would never have worn on other award shows like Nicole Kidman‘s princess-themed Gucci dress, Julianne Moore‘s 70s mermaid-inspired Givenchy number and Cate Blanchett‘s sequinned-bib Givenchy couture.

IMG_5768
FYI Cate’s was from a year ago, she’s absent this year so any chance to include her right? lol

As long as we’re talking about having fun on the red carpet, Arya Stark cleaned up nicely! Maisie Williams (Best Ensemble nominee for Game of Thrones) showed up ready for the after-party in an Ermanno Scervino tea-length dress with Roger Vivier heels and Jimmy Choo clutch. I love how age-appropriate the look was complimented with fresh make-up and a messy bun.

IMG_5734

Another gal who sure had fun during the festivities was Tina Fey who donned a classic silhouette with a crimson halter gown by Narciso Rodriguez, she kept her look simple with just a touch of make-up, free-flowing hair and drop earrings. Tina was on hand to present an Honorary Award to Carol Burnett.

IMG_5747

For the next look, you might think I’m a little biased because some would say that I’m obsessed with her, well maybe just a tiny bit! Rooney Mara (Supporting Actor nominee for Carol) proves that she doesn’t need to depart from black to have fun, instead she walked the red carpet in a plunging Valentino couture which came with a cape! And if you know me, I appreciate a cape on the red carpet!

IMG_5745

From Valentino to another V, Versace! Brie Larson (Leading Actor winner for Room) continued her winning streak not only in the awards department but also in style, she kept everything else in her look minimal and just let her sexy powder blue dress with knot details do all the talking – talk about va va voom!

IMG_5733

Kiernan Shipka is all grown up! Nominated with her Mad Men costars, Kiernan glows in a strapless floral Erdem gown which totally compliments her and proves her status as a fashion girl. With the conclusion of her show, there’s no doubt that she won’t stay out of the radar long and if this look is any indication, I’m already excited what she’ll wear next to promote her upcoming projects!

IMG_5722

For my best dressed of the night, Rachel McAdams takes the Spotlight in a floral embroidered gown by Elie Saab which reflected perfectly her sweet and ladylike demeanor. Rachel didn’t need much to add to the delicate creation other than that au naturale make-up and her signature smile.

BTW, she won together with her Spotlight castmates for Best Ensemble in a Movie and she was nominated for Supporting Actor for the same film but lost out to Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
